As Maya Angelou said, when you know better, you do better. Training and educating youth, families, the community, helps us create a safe and abuse-free community.
Youth: We work to encourage, educate, and empower our youth to make healthy decisions that are best for their lives. We focus on consent, boundaries, communication, and supportive resources. We utilize the evidence based Safe Dates curriculum.
Families: We help parents support and educate their children by creating safe spaces to have important conversations.
Community: We educate our community so everyone understands their part in making the South Texas Brush Country a safer place to live.
We know these topics can be triggering. All Safer Path employees & volunteers are trained to provide crisis intervention to individuals making a sexual assault related outcry at any event.
Client Advocacy
Advocacy: getting support from another person to help you get help, express your views and wishes, and help you stand up for your rights. Someone who helps you in this way is called your advocate.
At Safer Path, our advocates put clients first. We walk beside survivors of sexual violence as they rebuild their futures free from violence. Our trained advocates connect clients to resources and services through a continuous, support process. From shelter and housing to employment and legal assistance, we ensure the needs of survivors and their families are met. Our advocacy services can be accessed at any point after an incident of sexual violence, from immediate crisis support and hospital accompaniment to navigating legal and judicial systems.
